“The Rainbow Dancing in the Room” organized by Liz Hernández (online exhibition)
July 6, 2023 to July 12, 2023
Splitting sun rays, the rainbow dancing in the room.
A prism pirouette, moving to the beat of a different drum.
My mind constantly spinning faster than the revolving sunlight.
I lay down to contemplate it and become jealous of its coordination.
Of its patience to be in tune with nature.
And the opportunity to exist in the present moment.
Slow, spinning gem dancing with the power of the sun.
The world’s rhythm is different from the cadence we’ve created.
About the Exhibition

The pieces range from peaceful to energetic, offering an intimate and introspective experience. The exhibition features artists Julio del Rio, Willie Harris, Karen May, Shantae Robinson, and Tre’von Silva.
About the Organizer
Liz Hernández is a Mexican artist based in Oakland, California. Her work spans a variety of techniques—painting, sculpture, embroidery, and writing —which she uses to blur the space between the real and the imaginary. Deeply influenced by the craft traditions of Mexico, her practice investigates the language of materials and the different stories they tell. This fascination has led her to explore a variety of mediums like clay, aluminum, brass, stone, gold leaf, and paper-mâché. She draws inspiration from anthropology, syncretism, oral traditions, her family, and the landscape of Mexico City; always looking for an element that disrupts the normalcy of everyday life. Her partially autobiographical work has led to collaboration with her family in the shape of very personal research.
Hernández has exhibited nationally and internationally. Her work is in the permanent collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the De Young Museum.
