Fashion + Fiber at NIAD // “Me & My Gal” Book Launch at the SF Art Book Fair

It’s back! After a two year pandemic break, the 2022 San Francisco Art Book Fair returns to Minnesota Street Project July 15 through the 17 (with an evening preview on July 14), and NIAD will be in the mix.
The San Francisco Art Book Fair is an annual multi-day festival of artists’ publications. The event is FREE and OPEN to the public and features artists’ books, art catalogs, monographs, periodicals, zines, printed ephemera, and artists’ multiples. These works are presented by over 100 independent publishers, antiquarian dealers, artists, collectors, and enthusiasts. Over the weekend, the fair hosts a diverse range of talks, discussions, book launches, on and off-site special projects, exhibitions and signings.
Our team will be bringing an incredible collection of one-of-a-kind art books, dynamic zines, ongoing book projects and much more….. all created by our NIAD Artists.
NIAD will also be launching a special new publication of our own, Me & My Gal, produced and edited by former NIAD facilitator Nan Collymore, Me and My Gal “began as an idea to gather together some of the work being made by artists I’ve been working on textile projects with at NIAD.” The resulting publication serves as a brilliant reflection of what fashion means to NIAD artists: “Dressing each other as an act of care, beyond words. The fragility of bodies. Clothing as an armor, an extra skin.”
