Interesting Viewing: Our Jean McElvane Rounds Up The Best Summer Songs//

Hey! It’s summertime.

It’s hard to believe after sheltering-in-lace for nearly 100 days, but as NIAD artist Jean McElvane says, “It’s music time again for it’s now the first day of summer. At the moment, here’s a top 25, and some of them also have long versions (which are included as bonus choices).”

Enjoy. And remember please apply sunblock liberally (should you step outside.)

23. “Suppertime” from You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Bonus Choice)

Jean’s note: This is the one I remember and saw as a kid. Loni Anderson was host for Fantastic Funnies special back in 1980. I never saw “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” when it came out, but I do remember Snoopy dancing around and being excited about suppertime, and not summertime — which I thought — and then Charlie Brown opened the door, but he never said anything.  It was still funny.
24. “Summertime” by Janis Joplin
25. “It’s Like Summer” by Lux
