Familiar faces.
When you attend Thirsty Thursday tonight (and we hope you will!), you might recognize Anthony Grant, since he’s been a friend of the center for some time.
Last year, Anthony organized a terrific exhibition, Ether Here Nor There, in our galleries, and spent time with us in person with an artist/curator’s talk and one of the first Thirsty Thursday events onsite.
Before that, he got to know us online, and we got to know his work too. It was the beginning of something great.
We do try to keep people around.
When someone comes to NIAD with a great idea for a project or an online show, we’ll often invite them back to collaborate more deeply.
In Anthony’s case, we knew he’d be up for the challenge of reinventing the organized show format for NIAD Windows as well as our online Thirsty Thursdays.
For our artists and staff, NIAD is mostly a permanent commitment – many of our artists have been working at NIAD since the 1980s, and at least one staff member can claim the same.
We’re going for longevity – at every level, we’re aiming to sustain these relationships that grow and change, sometimes over years, since this is where our leadership comes from – our artists, our staff, our community of support (including our board) – and of course you.
This is why almost every week, I encourage you to reach out if you have ideas, questions, or thoughts for us – it could be the beginning of something beautiful.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Or say hello at Thirsty Thursday – we’d love to see you there.
In community,
Amanda Eicher, Executive Director
